Confidentiality
Confidentiality is of utmost importance to us. Strict measures are always taken to ensure our client’s information is kept private. In most cases, registered psychologists must maintain strict confidentiality of clinical records. Information cannot be released without the client’s written permission. There are limits to confidentiality in circumstances where there are concerns of child abuse, sexual misconduct, self-harm, or harm to others.
All clients must complete a “Consent to Release Information” form before information is shared with any third party agencies. Files may be released in response to court orders and subpoenas in the cases described above.
Our confidentiality policy will be reviewed in detail with all clients at the first appointment. If there are any questions or concerns about our privacy practices before we meet, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Virtual Care
In addition to in-person services, Dr. Wong provides virtual care using a secure video platform. Virtual care is another effective method of therapy delivery as it removes barriers for individuals with mobility or travel concerns and provides more convenience for families and individuals with busy schedules. Virtual care also allows people to have greater access to psychologists without any location barriers.
Service fees
Psychological services are not covered by OHIP. However, clients may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement under an extended health benefits plan or insurance plan. If clients are not eligible for benefits, the cost of treatment may be paid by e-transfer, cash or cheque. Payment is required at the time of service and receipts will be provided for medical expenses and income tax purposes.
The Ontario Psychological Association (OPA) sets an hourly rate for services, but fees may be negotiated that take into account a client’s needs and financial means.
